I Gusti Ayu Laksmiyani known as Ayu Laksmi was born into a musical family in Singaraja Bali on November 25, 1967. Ayu started singing at the age of 4 and has never stopped performing ever since.She has been participating actively on numerous stages of festivals, events & parties both locally in Bali and nationally. All of her life she has been teaching herself whilst working in the entertainment industry and she continues to choose Bali as the place to further develop her career as an entertainer.
Since 1995 and in recent years has turned her talents to song writing and composing. Her song Tri Kaya Parisudha (i.e Good thinking, good speaking, good deed) features on a spiritual album released this year.For the past 6 years Ayu has performed in a world music style that has included her rendition of “Kidung” a Balinese Hindu Religious chant.
She is now endeavoring to enter the world of acting.
Ayu discovered her talent and passion for acting only late in life, thanks to the skill, the trust & the direction of Garin Nugroho. This cooperation resulted in 2008 in the award winning and internationally acclaimed movie “Under the Tree” .
